Festive Fundraising

Christmas is such a busy time of year in the hair industry but this didn’t stop two academies stopping to think of others.

The first academy is ‘Elite’ who are based in Hastings, East Sussex, some of the students went to help a local homeless charity called ‘Dom’s Food Mission’. Over the weeks that led up to Christmas the students started collecting donations of food, toothpaste, toothbrushes, wipes, lip balm, hand creams, sanitary products and gloves.

The students made posters, which were displayed on sections within the salon, they took it upon themselves to talk to the clients about what they were doing and why.  A large box was placed for the clients in the academy to put whatever donations they could afford to put in it, it didn’t matter how big or small, all donations were gratefully received.

All the students were very happy with the amount they collected, Linda Smith (owner of Elite) said “I am very proud of them “

Well done to all involved!

The second academy is ‘The Grove Experience’ who are based in Eastbourne, they came up with the idea of a community coat rack. They asked clients as well as putting a shout out on social media, asking for any unwanted coats. The purpose of this was to not see the less fortunate be cold this winter.

A rack was set up in the doorway of the old police station which was opposite The Grove Experience. The Grove Experience asked if anyone had a spare warm coat that they no longer wanted and would like to donate to this worthy cause.

An idea like this shows a great sense of community and heart for those in need this winter.
