Barbering Awards – Maria Di Martino

Cheynes Training would like to say a massive congratulations to our very own Maria Di Martino who picked up first place at the Freelance Hairdresser Association awards night, for the Barber’s Chair Award. Maria entered the barber’s chair category where she carried out a complete restyle on a new client. She said I thought I would “give it a go” but did not expect anything to come of it. Little did she know she had got through to the next stage! There were three stages within the competition:

Stage 1 –  was the photo of her work

Stage 2 – was a write up of 300 words on how she achieved the final look

Stage 3 –  was the final judgement

570 people entered the competition and only the final few were invited to Daventry where they found out who had won.  150 people turned up at the star studded event where there were shows, guest speakers and even a magician! The competition had four categories, style creator, red carpet, barber chair and Avant guard award.

Maria has been hairdressing for over 25 years and has been a valued member of the Cheynes Training team for 17 years. She has a passion for hair and barbering and this is demonstrated through her various teaching roles within Cheynes.
