Level One - Still at school? How would you like to swap your school books for a pair of scissors?
How would you like to try out a hairdressing career while still at school, take part in an excellent work experience programme, try out a fantastic career in an exciting fashion salon and gain an NVQ Level One qualification all at the same time?
What Would Be Involved?
Young people taking part in the Cheynes Training NVQ Level One join a top salon in their area. They are then trained to high standards as they gain valuable work experience. Training lasts for an entire term and can be for one, two or even more days each week, depending on the school timetable. Training concentrates on hairdressing but also covers subjects such as health and safety, reception work and retailing, communication, teamwork and other interesting subjects.
What Else Will You Do?
As a Level One student working in a top salon, each Candidate will do their share of coffee making, sweeping up and making sure the salon is tidy, but it does not stop there! At first, new Candidates learn the simple skills of hairdressing such as the correct method of shampooing, how to communicate with Clients, etc. As confidence develops, the Candidate will learn more skills such as how to blow-dry correctly, how to apply simple colour and much, much more!
What About Job Prospects?
In a word, excellent! The aim of the Level One programme is to introduce each young person to a top salon with a view to them joining full time when they leave school. When a Candidate successfully completes the programme they will have gained a tremendous insight into their chosen career and achieved a nationally recognised qualification at the same time! This is a virtual guarantee of a job in hairdressing and something every employer would appreciate.
