How to use the Habia Learning Support Packs - NVQ Level Two

Lesson Plans

Effective lesson plans are the starting point for delivering successful learning and we strongly recommend that educators use the specially prepared lesson plans that may be accessed via the link in the black panel on the right hand side of this page.

These lesson plans are taken from SmartScreen but with one important difference, we have added in to each of the Smartscreen plans the Habia resources that may be downloaded directly from this website. This makes these lesson plans doubly effective.

Of course, salons are free to develop their own lesson plans but please would you okay these with your RTA first? Otherwise please use the recommended lesson plans that are free to download from this website.

Trainer Notes

Learning Support Packs are designed to support the teaching of knowledge for NVQ Level Two in hairdressing and barbering. The pack is made up of ‘trainer’s notes’ and extensive web based resources. The trainer’s notes for each unit are contained in a wire-bound booklet with the same general layout...

Web based resources

The printed resources required for each session are web based and must be downloaded from the Cheynes Training website. Because the resources are password protected each educator (or salon owner) needs to be registered on the website before the resources can be accessed. To register go to http://www.cheynestraining.com/ click on Register and follow the on-screen instructions. Please note that although registration takes just seconds resources cannot be accessed until the registration has been processed, this normally takes a few minutes but it will take a longer if completed out of office hours. Once registered, you may Login, download and print off as many resources as you need.

Several types of resources may be downloaded from the website, these include handouts, activities, over head transparency stencils (OHTs), learner checks and step-by-steps. The session plans for each unit states clearly which of these resources should be used.

To make it easier to identify the web based resources and to simplify the downloading and printing process, we have listed the resources for each unit in a special wire bound guide. There are several hundred pages of resources available on the website and our aim is to make accessing them as simple as possible.

To download and print out a specific resource, for example the handout H.9.3.3, follow this procedure...
