Apprenticeship Success Rates
In England, the Learning and Skills Council measures success within the Apprenticeship system by looking at what happens to all Candidates who are due to complete their programme within a 12 month period which runs from 1 August to 31 July each year; this group of Candidates is known as a ‘cohort’ and the measurement period is called a ‘cohort year’.
The latest ‘cohort year’ has now ended and we are pleased to say that Cheynes Training has, once again, improved our success rates so that they now stand at 69% for Apprenticeships (up from 67% in 2007-08) and 66% for Advanced Apprenticeships (slightly down from 67% in 2007-08).
Although it will be several months before the LSC publishes national figures, we know that Cheynes Training will, once again, be far above the hairdressing national average which we expect will be around 60%.

Ofsted / ALI Report
The Adult Learning Inspectorate last inspected Cheynes Training in November 2005 and the report from this inspection was published in January 2006. We are delighted to say that for the second inspection running, we achieved Grade 2 for hairdressing and Grade 2 for Leadership and Management. Grade 1 is the highest a provider can achieve and Grade 4 is the lowest. Very few providers in hairdressing achieve two Grade 2s so we are extremely proud of our achievement. As a result of our grades, Cheynes Training were named by ALI as one of the top 150 training providers in England during 2005.
ALI have now been incorporated into Ofsted and the full report from our last inspection may be found on the Ofsted website at http://tinyurl.com/9zxh2q If anyone has not yet visited this site, it makes quite interesting reading comparing the different results from various training providers.
Cheynes Training is due to be inspected again in late 2009, the report from this inspection will be published on this website as soon as it is available.
