Each employer has a duty of care for employees including young people in learning.
It is the young people involved with apprenticeships that this section is primarily aimed at, however the creation of a safe working environment is an essential requirement for all employees.
The employers’ duty of care also extends to those visiting the salon in connection with the teaching and assessment of young people on an apprenticeship programme including Regional Training Advisors and external verifiers, etc.
The links at the foot of this page allow access to a number of resources that are designed to help employers meet their legal obligations but it must be pointed out that it remains the employers responsibility to ensure every employee works in a totally safe environment.
Employers should therefore seek specialist advice form a Health and Safety competent person before implementing any new Health and Safety procedures.
