Every Candidate Matters

Every Candidate Matters?

You bet!

All those involved in helping you to develop your career want you to reach the highest standards of accomplishment and, by doing so, become the very best that you can be.

Providing you stick to the salon rules, especially those to do with safety and supervision, you need never worry about making mistakes; they are part of learning. Of course, some things will come easier than others but, however easy or hard, always work with enthusiasm and aim for the highest marks in everything you do.

It is our intention to ensure that all Candidates on our training programmes, in particular those aged 16 to 18, achieve each of the ‘five outcomes’ set out by the government in the Every Child Matters programme, these are:

Be healthy: We will encourage all Candidates to pursue a healthy lifestyle – after all we only ever get one body! Click on Focus on Wellbeing in the black panel on the right of this page for more information

Stay safe: We will ensure all premises are regularly checked for Health and Safety and make sure that Candidates are working the correct number of hours and insist that salons offer equality of opportunity, see the Health and Safety section in the Candidate Zone for more information. We will also focus on making sure that young people in particular are kept safe from harm, please click on Safeguarding in the black panel on the right to find out more information. We will also remind everyone about safety on the internet – click on Safe Surfing in the panel to find out more.

Enjoy and achieve: We will continually encourage all Candidates to achieve success by monitoring and where possible improving teaching, learning and assessment. We will also ensure the very best learning resources are available for use by those on our programmes.

Make a positive contribution: We will encourage and celebrate progression and find ways of helping Candidates to stretch themselves and do things they never thought possible through, for example, competitions and projects, click on Competitions and Projects in the black panel to find out more about what we are currently offering.

Achieve economic wellbeing: We will continually check to ensure that Candidates are progressing towards the goal of becoming a successful hair designer in a top salon. We also want to hear how you are doing so please tell us your story by contacting tricia@cheynestraining.com

Independent Support: We also provide a comprehensive list of independent agencies that exist to help people cope with every difficult situation that might possibly occur, please click on Support Agencies in the panel to access this list.

Candidates at Risk of not completing

We will identify any Candidate that is at risk of not achieving any of the ‘five outcomes’ and once identified we will immediately communicate our concerns to the employer, the head of centre responsible for their teaching and learning, the Regional Training Advisor concerned and the Programme Manager at Cheynes Training. Together with the Candidate, these people will formulate an action plan to help the Candidate overcome any barriers to success and go on to complete their programme.

If you wish to discuss any concerns you may have please speak to your employer , your manager, the Head of Centre at your salon or your Regional Training Advisor. You may also speak in confidence to the Programme Manager, please click on sarah@cheynestraining.com or telephone Sarah Wilson on 0131 476 7100.
